Shadreck Chikoti is an award-winning Malawian writer and social activist who was selected by the Africa39 project in 2014 as one of the “most promising African writers under 40.”

Chikoti’s work has appeared in the Caine Prize volume To See the Mountain and Other Stories and the Africa39 anthology.  Chikoti’s 2015 Azotus the Kingdom is the first speculative fiction novel published in Malawi. He is also Director of Pan African Publishers and recently edited a volume of science fiction and fantasy stories entitled Imagine Africa 500.  For fall 2019, he was awarded a residency in the International Writing Program (IWP) at the University of Iowa.

Shadreck Chikoti is also the founder and director of the Feminart Arts and Book Festival; the inaugural festival was held in Lilongwe, Malawi, from October 11-13, 2019.
