Her forthcoming book, Mobile Households: Indian Ocean Intimate Economies in the Age of Abolition, is a feminist micro-history of Indian Ocean capitalism in the 19th and 20th centuries. Her research draws on multi-lingual archives—Gujarati, Arabic, and Swahili—in Tanzania, India, and the UK.

Hollian Wint-Frederick is Assistant Professor of African History at UCLA. Her forthcoming book,
Mobile Households: Indian Ocean Intimate Economies in the Age of Abolition, is a feminist micro-history of Indian Ocean capitalism in the 19th and 20th centuries. Her research draws on multi-lingual archives—Gujarati, Arabic, and Swahili—in Tanzania, India, and the UK. She is currently working on a digital humanities project, Afro-Asian Archives, in collaboration with the Digital Humanities Initiative at UCLA and the Zanzibar National Archives. She has been the recipient of several fellowships and grants, including the ACLS and Hellman fellowships. Her most recent articles and chapters have been published in the
Journal of Global History, the
Journal of World History, and the
Oxford Research Encyclopedia of African History.
